These sharks grow to be about 3 feet long and are light brown with very faint banding. Juvenile sharks are marked with dark bands and scattered dark spots across the body.
The bamboo shark can survive outside of the water for up to 12 hours because they often hunt in tide pools. Typically, they scour the bottom for food and suck in what they find in the sand. They do not have very large mouths and will spit out whatever is too large for them to digest.
